Highlights vs Scalp Bleaching

When deciding between a scalp bleach and highlights, it’s important to understand the differences and how they affect your hair:

Scalp Bleach

  • Process: Scalp bleach involves applying bleach directly to the roots and all over the hair, lifting the color to a very light blonde or even white.

  • Result: This gives a uniform, even color from roots to tips, resulting in an all-over blonde look. It can range from platinum blonde to a more natural blonde, depending on the toner used afterward. You can even go for a pastel toner, for exmaple baby pink or lilac.

  • Maintenance: The regrowth is very noticeable, so touch-ups are needed more regularly to keep your colour looking fresh.

  • Best For: Those looking for a dramatic, full blonde transformation, especially if you're aiming for platinum or very light blonde shades.

If you have a sensitive scalp or a scalp condition, scalp bleaching may not be the best option for you. If you aren’t sure, come in and have a complimentary consultation with one of our stylists.

Highlights

  • Process: Highlights involve applying lightener and/or a colour to selected strands of hair. These sections are weaved and places into foils to keep them from smudging onto the rest of your hair.

  • Result: This gives a more natural, multidimensional look with lightened sections interspersed throughout your natural hair color. Highlights can be subtle or bold, depending on the look you are after.

  • Maintenance: Highlights have less noticeable regrowth compared to a full bleach, so touch-ups aren’t needed as often to keep your colour looking fresh.

  • Best For: Those wanting a sun-kissed, natural look or a low-maintenance way to go lighter without committing to full blonde. It’s also ideal for adding dimension to your hair.
