Curly hair routine

1. Cleanse with a Sulfate-Free Shampoo

Sulfates can be harsh on curls, stripping them of natural oils and leaving hair dry and frizzy. Look for a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo that has moisturising properties! We recommend the Authentic Beauty Concept hydrate range. Their vegan, free from formula combined with mango and basil extracts creates the perfect hydrating formula to regenerate and revitalise your curls!

2. Deep Condition Regularly

Curly hair is naturally prone to dryness, so conditioning is essential. Use a moisturizing conditioner when you wash your hair ad use a deep conditioning mask regularly to restore hydration. Apply a generous amount, focusing on the ends, and let it sit for 10-20 minutes for maximum impact. When your conditioner is on is also a good time to brush through your hair. Using your fingers or a wide tooth comb, gently detangle your har starting at the ends and working your way up to the root.

3. Use Leave-In Conditioners and Styling Creams

After washing and conditioning, a leave-in conditioner provides extra moisture. A spray conditioner is also great for refreshing your curls after wash day. Follow up with a curl cream or styling gel to help define your curls and lock in the shape. Look for lightweight, non-greasy formulas to keep your curls bouncy and fresh. We recommend the Schwarzkopf bounty balm or curl jam!

4. Dry with a Microfiber Towel or T-Shirt

Cotton towels can rough up your curls and cause frizz and breakage. Instead, use a microfiber towel or an old cotton t-shirt to gently squeeze out excess water. This minimizes frizz and keeps your curls intact. Silk head towels are also a great way to absorb the water from, your hair without disturbing the curl pattern

5. Air Dry or Use a Diffuser

Air drying is often the gentlest option for curls, as it prevents heat damage and maintains definition. However, if you need to speed up the process or prefer diffusing your curls as it often encourages the curls to curl more, a diffuser attachment on your blow dryer is your best friend. Use it on a low heat setting, gently cupping your curls to enhance volume without disrupting the curl pattern. Try and avoid touching your curls too much to avoid frizz.
