Balayage vs Foilyage
Balayage and foilyage are both hair coloring techniques that create a natural, sun-kissed look. The main difference between the two is the way the color is applied.
Balayage involves sweeping lightener down the mid-lengths and ends of the hair and is left out of foils to create that beautifully blended look we all know and love. This creates a sunkissed look which requires little maintenance as the grow out is so natural.
Foilyage involves the same sweeping method, however, sections of hair are wrapped in foil instead of being left to air dry. This technique allows the heat from the lightener to be trapped, which prevents it from drying out as quickly so it can process your hair quicker and for longer. As a result, foilyage will look a lot brighter and have more dimension. Foilyage also looks a tad closer to the results of highlighting than balayage.
